Escarpment Pinot Noir 2021

Translucent garnet hue, hinting of a little age. Quite smoky and earthy on the nose with an impression of slightly cooked fruit and later perhaps the subtlest waft of chocolate box. Firm, ultra dry and ultra savoury in the palate – it seems more Burgundian than kiwi as it is so different to what we are used to, then as the flavours compound in the palate, bottled cherry fruit and cake spices are revealed and the lingering mouthfeel is silky. It’s definitely a wine to accompany food - perhaps venison back strap or lamb.
