Te Mata Coleraine 2015
Saturated purple red in the glass. The bouquet is fragrant with cassis, violets, polished oak and hints of spice and leather and while the first taste impression is that the wine is very dry a brooding succulence ripples through. The tannins are fine and silky; the concentrated fruit is suggestive of currants, plums and cassis; oak spice mingles with the harmonious cigar box / cedar / French oak savouriness and there’s an aromatic lift of violets and bramble leaf on the long, fine, suave finish. A serious blend of 54% cabernet sauvignon, 36% merlot and 10% cabernet franc, it will evolve in a good cellar for 25+ years.
