Te Awanga Estate Chardonnay 2016
Light gold in hue with a butter caramel scent – it smells rich but is surprisingly on the medium side of full-bodied when you taste it and the smooth, seamless mouthfeel and flow makes it deceptively easy to drink. Fermented in barrel with wild yeasts, and with full malo imparting creaminess, the flavours are toasty and peachy with savoury French oak humming along in harmony and a fantastically long finish with peach and mealy notes lingering deliciously. Light chilling is all that is needed. 93/100 Wine Orbit.
