Te Awa Single Estate Syrah 2013
This is a deep dark red with a touch of crimson. There's a dark smoky cigar box-like aura infusing the plum and black cherry jam bouquet – it smells succulent, smooth and creamy but on first tasting the dryness of the wine and the tight-knit tannins are profound. It soon reveals blackberries and cream and the generous milk chocolate finish is long and flowing – all the upfront dryness has dissipated – and roasted spices and toasted oak accent the long creamy finish.
